Rob Fowler is Executive Vice President and one of the owners of Turner Wood & Smith Insurance. He has been with the agency since 1996 and specializes in the employee benefits insurance and has earned the professional designations of Registered Health Underwriter and Chartered Life Underwriter.
As a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of North Georgia, and named as 2010 Young Alumnus of the Year. Rob was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation and served 10 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves in Military Intelligence, with a Top Secret security clearance. His last military assignment was as Commander of the Army Reserve’s 212thTransportation Company, which was called to active duty in 1990 in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He also earned a Masters Degree in Management from Webster University.
Rob has long been active in community service organizations, serving as President or Board Chair chairman of several, including: the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce; Rehabilitation Industries of Northeast Georgia; Gainesville Rotary Club; Boy Scouts of Northeast Georgia Council; the Salvation Army; the Chattahoochee Country Club and Gainesville First United Methodist Church. His work with the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce earned him the organization’s highest honor, the W.G. Mealor Award in 2006.
He was the founder of VISION 2030, a community visioning project designed to promote orderly growth and development of communities in Hall County and served as chariman from 2005-2010. He coordinated the recruitment of hundreds of community volunteers and drove the year-long process that led to the adoption of the VISION 2030 plan by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.
In 2008, Rob was also a founding director of Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia, and remains on their Board of Directors.
Rob and his wife Leslie have been married over 30 years and have two sons, Robert and Brett. He and Leslie are members of Gainesville First United Methodist Church.
