Mart Martin leads brand strategy for the marketing communications agency Jackson Spalding. As a strategist, Mart helps companies, organizations and brands better communicate who they are, what they do and why it matters. He does this using a process he developed called a JS Excavation®, which uncovers information, insights and ideas that inform the creation of purpose statements, core values, brand positioning statements, key messages, brand names, taglines, and creative concepts.
Mart has done brand foundation work a variety of corporate and non-profit clients including the Chick-fil- A Foundation, The Goizueta Foundation, Georgia Aquarium, Growing Leaders, Atlanta Mission, the University of System of Georgia, CobbLinc and Eagle Ranch.
Mart joined Jackson Spalding in 2006 after spending 20 years with The Coca-Cola Company where his positions included director of public relations for Coca-Cola North America, manager of corporate media relations, and manager of worldwide sports publicity.
Prior to Coca-Cola, Mart was director of media and public relations for the 1985 United States Olympic Festival and the 1983 Special Olympics World Summer Games, both held in Baton Rouge, La. He also held positions with Heritage Publishing Company in Little Rock, Ark., and Mississippi Special Olympics.
In addition to the Eagle Ranch board, Mart serves on the advisory board of the C.S. Lewis Institute Atlanta, and also is a member of its 2017 Fellows class. He is past president and current advisory board member of Tom Key’s Theatrical Outfit professional theatre company. He also serves on the advisory board of the University of Southern Mississippi School of Mass Communication and Journalism and on the honorary board of Special Olympics Georgia. He is an elder at Dunwoody Community Church.
With the time dedicated to serving that is left, he conducts workshops he calls Attentional Living: How Purpose & Priorities Lead to Personal Satisfaction for various organizations.
Mart graduated with honors from Southern Miss with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising with an emphasis in Marketing. An avid reader, Mart enjoys spending time with his wife LeAnne, step-daughter Madeline, and their Lab/Shepherd rescue, Dakota, at their home in Sandy Springs.
